Altruism: A Designer’s Real-World Review
Practical Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Test Altruism in black and white first—no color crutches. Does it retain character? Yes, consistently.
- Check small-size readability at 10–12px on actual mockups (not just your screen). It passes on packaging and apparel tags—but verify with your printer’s output profile.
- Compare uppercase vs. lowercase in context. Lowercase often reads warmer and more approachable for brand voice; uppercase reads more permanent and declarative—choose intentionally.
- Review spacing carefully. Its default tracking is thoughtful, but tighten slightly for headlines under 36px; loosen modestly for large-format posters.
- Pair it live—not just in theory. Try it beside a serif font (for contrast), another sans serif font (for harmony), a script font (for balance), a handwritten font (for texture), and a display font (to understand its role as foundation, not flourish).
- Confirm commercial licensing before any client work or digital product launch. Altruism is a commercial font—great for Canva templates, Cricut projects, printable design, and digital products—but only if licensed correctly for your use case.
